FIRST at a Glance:

        Founded by accomplished inventor Dean Kamento, FIRST was created to develop an appreciation of science and technology in young people. FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition in Science and Technology) is a non-profit public charity that motivates young people to pursue education and careers in science or technology related fields. Stated by the founder of FIRST, Dean Kamen, FIRST goal is "To transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology leaders." FIRST helps young people to develop the skills needed to work in the real world. One major idea pressed by FIRST is the idea of  Gracious Professionalism^TM, in which encourages high-quality work, emphasizes the value of others, and respects individuals and the community.
